About MURALITER tapestry art, textile art

The name - our activities

The name MURALITER was formed from Latin "murus" (wall) by analogy with the Dutch word "normaliter", meaning "normally", and  highlights the walls of the interior. The subtitle "decor with passion" explains the essence: more expressiveness, harmony and warmth in one's interior. MURALITER is an art dealer.

Why - the problem

Be it new-build, renovation or moving house or office, wall decorations always come last. Practical functions come first out of necessity. During this intensive course of 1,001 decisions, focused thinking about wall decoration comes at the bottom of the list. The supporting wall of the floor plan becomes the wailing wall in the decoration plan. Because the supply of art is wide and diverse, and not everyone has the time or inclination to get involved, in the best case scenario the walls remain bare. In the worst case scenario the wall may be decorated with just about anything. These kinds of interiors have an anonymous, cold and even unpleasant atmosphere for the people that move inside them.

The solution - the product

With their intrinsic warmth and acoustic qualities wall hangings provide an appropriate solution to this problem. They compensate any impersonal feelings in one's interior and turn it into a harmonious and warm space.
MURALITER makes silent walls speak and gives blind walls face.

In addition to woven wall hangings (Gobelin tapestries), the collection contains work in mixed techniques. These are combinations of textile and non-textile techniques and materials. In these objects too, the textile aspect is a prominent feature. All textile mural objects are handmade one-off pieces "Made in Europe" from/by European artists and designers. The website, http://www.muraliter.nl/, shows you part of the collection.

Who for

MURALITER is for art lovers and people

  • who are consciously involved in their home or office interior,
  • who want to express their personality through this ("Express yourself!"),
  • who have outgrown the IKEA stage,
  • who have invested in (design) furniture,
  • and then break down on the question "What do we hang on the wall?"
